‘Game
of Thrones” creator George RR Martin says he’s talking to HBO about a prequel to the fantasy series.
Martin told ign.com that the series would revolve around his “Tales of Dunk and Egg” novellas, which take place about 90 years before the beginning of “Game of Thrones.”
“We have been playing with the idea of doing those as prequels,” Martin told the site. “They would be prequels in a sense [as] they’re a hundred years earlier but in the same world.
“They’re somewhat lighter in tone than the main series. A little more adventurous,” he said.
“But my fans love them and I love the two characters, too, and it all ties into Westeros history.”
“Game of Thrones” starts its third season Sunday, March 31 on HBO.
