Rockets trying to include Lin in Asik deal: report

The Houston Rockets appear to be willing to give up on “Linsanity,” but it doesn’t look like any other NBA team is willing to bring it to their city.

According to a CBSSports.com report, the Rockets are open to including former Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin in a package with center Omer Asik, who is expected to be dealt by Thursday.

However, there appears to be little chance of Lin getting moved, as a league executive said, “I’m not sure if there are many, if any, takers for him right now.”

Lin, who is in the second year of a three-year, $25.1 million contract, is averaging 14.3 points and 4.2 assists in 18 contests, with eight starts. He had a highly productive November, scoring in double digits in 12 of 15 games, but suffered a knee sprain on Nov. 27. He played two games since then, but is now sidelined with back spasms.

In an ironic twist, the Knicks could certainly use Lin.

Starting point guard Raymond Felton (hamstring) and backup Pablo Prigioni (toe) are sidelined, and the team will now have to get by with Beno Udrih and Toure’ Murry, who has played only sparingly this season.
