Eva Moskowitz: I’ll sue de Blasio for charter-school space

New York’s largest charter-schools operator is threatening to sue Mayor de Blasio if the city boots its students out of space promised in the fall.

“The mayor continues to play politics with our scholars’ future. This is unacceptable,” Success Charters CEO Eva Moskowitz said in a letter to her board members.

“Despite our repeated efforts to reach out to this administration, we expect to hear announcements in the next two weeks that a few of our approved schools will not be allowed to open for growth.

“This would be tragic, unfair, and, we believe, illegal,” she went on. “As soon as those rollbacks/reversals are announced, we will notify you and plan to take the appropriate legal action.”

Moskowitz was referring to the Bloomberg administration’s decision last year to allow 20 charter schools to co-locate or share space rent-free with traditional public schools in city buildings.
