Grammy from Bey to Z

New York’s premier hip-hop power couple — Jay-Z and Beyoncé — are celebrating after last night’s Grammy nomination concert, where Mr. and Mrs. Z took home a combined 15 nominations.

Beyoncé has bragging rights over her spouse with nods in 10 categories (the most of any artist last night), including the coveted trinity — Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Album of the Year.

Others with multiple nominations went to Taylor Swift, who garnered eight, the Black Eyed Peas, R&B singer Maxwell and Kanye West, who each earned six nods.

FULL LIST OF GRAMMY NOMINATIONS

Like Jay-Z, Guetta and Lady Gaga each received five nominations; and Colbie Caillat, Michael Giacchino, Kings Of Leon, John Newton, RedOne, Bruce Springsteen, T-Pain and Keith Urban each earned four nominations.

The top Grammy prize, Album of the Year, reflected this year’s eclecticism. Competing against Beyoncé’s hit album “I Am . . . Sasha Fierce” are Black Eyed Peas for “The E.N.D.”; Lady Gaga for her “The Fame;” the Dave Matthews Band for “Big Whiskey And The GrooGrux King”; and tween queen Swift for “Fearless.”

In what’s usually a very controversial category — Best New Artist — Keri Hilson, the Zac Brown Band, MGMT, Silversun Pickups and The Ting Tings — actually are fairly new in mainstream music and fit the category nicely.

The top flashback group of the night had to be for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance, where Bob Dylan is in the race with John Fogerty, Prince, Springsteen and Neil Young.

The one-hour event that combined live performances with the nomination announcements was hosted by rap pioneer LL Cool J at Club Nokia in Los Angeles.

At times, the presenters, who included ex-Beatle and nine-time Grammy winner Ringo Starr, twang king Dwight Yoakam and Motown great Smokey Robinson, overshadowed the nominees.

As for the top performances during the succinct fast-paced event, the Black Eyed Peas were energetic opening the show with their hit “I’ve Got a Feeling.” Maxwell paid tribute to the late Michael Jackson and Nick Jonas tried out his new act, The Administration, without the help of his brothers Joe and Kevin. Maybe Nick is looking for a solo artist Grammy next year.
