The post-Benghazi probe: Skirting key questions

The Issue: The latest testimony on the 2012 Benghazi attack, which killed US Ambassador Chris Stevens.

***

The full Benghazi story will never be known absent a first-person account by someone who was in the chain of command at the time, someone in the Situation Room at the White House or on call at the State Department or CIA when the tragedy was unfolding (“Benghazi: Truth and Consequences,” PostOpinion, Jonah Goldberg, Sept 21).

President Obama and his Praetorian Guard in the Democratic Party and progressive media have no interest in the truth, because it would reveal incompetence and immorality on a scale rarely, if ever, seen before in an American administration.

Immoral because the reelection of a president lauded by the progressive media was given precedence over the defense of four American public servants.

That this tragedy was preventable is becoming known despite the administration’s and Hillary Clinton’s lies.

What is as damning as the administration foul-up itself is that so much of the media has allied itself with the immoral and incompetent party, fouling itself in this Faustian bargain.

Goldberg states the obvious surface realities of the scandal, but apparently, there was a much more egregious “plot behind the plot” that has largely been ignored by the mainstream media and virtually all politicians on both sides of the aisle.

Many intelligence and foreign-policy experts in America and abroad strongly believe there is credible evidence Benghazi was a covert CIA black op that was illegally running guns to Syrian rebels, many of which were al Qaeda offshoots, in an operation that rises to the magnitude of Iran- Contra.

Sen. Rand Paul is the only pol to have brought up this subject in the hearings.

There needs to be a serious hearing on this aspect of the affair so the truth can be exposed and to find out if Obama and Clinton knew about it or were involved in any way.

I could understand someone ordering back- up to our consulate in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012, without presidential approval, but who would give a stand-down order without Obama’s approval?
