Coughlin putting heat on ailing corners

Tom Coughlin sounds as if he’s running low on patience with his two injured cornerbacks — Aaron Ross and Kevin Dockery — and wants both on the practice field this week.

“We are going to try to get Ross and Dockery going,” the Giants coach said. “Hopefully they will be able to do some individual work to start with. We are going to kind of spoon feed them back in. But it is time.”

Both players have been sidelined with hamstring injuries and have yet to play this season. Ross has been bothered since early August, while Dockery has been out of practice since the first week with his injury.

Coughlin said the team won’t look at any other kickers this week, despite Lawrence Tynes’ miss on a 21-yard field goal this week, a week after missing a 29-yarder.

Tynes had the game-winner in Dallas, but has not looked right on some of his kicks.

“I think sometimes what has to happen is, as you practice, then you have to carry it over into game day,” Coughlin said.

Right tackle Kareem McKenzie sprained his right knee in Sunday’s game. Coughlin said the Giants hope he can practice this week.

Right guard Rich Seubert injured his shoulder, but Coughlin said he’ll be “ready to go.” . . . Linebacker Chase Blackburn has a high right ankle sprain and expects to play this week.

Defensive end Justin Tuck (shoulder) played eight snaps Sunday and came through “OK,” according to Coughlin. . . . Wide receiver Hakeem Nicks (foot) hopes to practice tomorrow.

Coughlin did not sound positive about DE Chris Canty (calf) and WR Domenik Hixon (knee). “They are encouraged,” he said. “But the same thing goes for all of those guys. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves here.”
