As is made immediately clear in the first trailer for “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker isn’t the happiest of superheroes.
“Every day I wake up knowing, that the more people I try to save, the more enemies I will make,” Parker says. “And it’s just a matter of time before I face those with more power than I can overcome.”
Unfortunately for him, that time has come – and the scale of the web-slinger’s task is much bigger than before.
Whereas last time he only had to deal with one baddie, this time he’s up against three members of his rogue’s gallery – Electro (Jamie Foxx), Harry Osbourne (Dane Mahann) and Rhino (Paul Giamatti) — not to mention he’s still not the police’s favorite neighborhood vigilante.
Emma Stone and Sally Field return to portray Mary Jane Watson and Parker’s Aunt May in the film.
As overstuffed as the trailer may look, it still makes time to offer glimpses of the film’s breathtaking action sequences, particularly a blisteringly fast fight between Spider-Man and Electro near the end of the clip.
“The Amazing Spider-Man 2” will arrive in theaters on May 2, 2014.
