‘Tea’ time in governor race

Tea Party-backed Buffalo developer Carl Paladino kicked off his promised $10 million campaign for the GOP nomination for governor last night, vowing to shake up the race and capture grassroots support.

“Are you mad? Are you mad as hell?” Paladino asked supporters in Buffalo. “Are you gonna take it anymore?”

Paladino (pictured) has already made headlines for aggressively going after Republican Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy and state party Chairman Ed Cox.

Last night, he included Andrew Cuomo, facetiously calling the Democratic front-runner a “prince.”

“Some of the people that I’m opposing think that they’re entitled . . . ‘My daddy was a governor,’ ” Paladino said.

The blunt speaker, who has compared the date of the health-care reform bill’s passage to 9/11 for its historical significance and impact, was recruited by upstate “Tea Party” movement leaders.
