‘Tamed’ cat’s gilded cage

AUGUSTA, Ga. — Welcome to Tiger’s ultra-exclusive lair.

The scandal-scarred multimillionaire golfer came to the Masters with so much baggage, he needed to rent not one but two mansions, sources told The Post.

Woods paid about $30,000 for a week at the neighboring six-bedroom, eight-bath estates in the gated and heavily guarded Westlake community, just a few miles from the tournament.

He’s using the smaller of the mansions for his entourage and the larger one for himself, one source said.

Part of the fence separating the properties was taken down to allow passage between them.

“He wanted a house with high fences and as few neighbors as possible,” the source said. “He wanted to avoid having to run the gantlet of paparazzi camped outside every morning.”

In his sumptuous rental, Woods is unlikely to get into much trouble.

One observer said that the mansions are so private and secure, Tiger might have been able to keep his philandering secret if he had limited the liaisons to the super-secure Georgia properties.

Located at the end of a cul-de-sac on the ironically named Honors Way, his 9,213-square-foot temporary home covers more ground than the average putting space at one of Augusta’s 18 holes.

It comes equipped with a massive heated pool, hot tub, opulent bathrooms and a three-car garage.

The master bedroom alone contains 900 square feet, although with Tiger on his best behavior and estranged wife Elin Nordegren keeping away from Augusta for the tournament, it’s unlikely he’ll be doing much entertaining there.

The two homes are located in the community’s “estate section,” and are among the largest at Westlake.

Woods has stayed at the gated-community before. Connected to the Westlake Country Club, the neighborhood provides all the amenities a pro golfer needs during Masters week, real-estate brokers said.

In fact, Woods has been spotted working out at the Westlake gym just after dawn each day, sources said.

He’s not alone. Fellow top golfers Mark O’Meara and Phil Mickelson, among others, regularly stay at Westlake during the Masters, brokers said.

“In Westlake, Tiger won’t have to worry about anyone bothering him. It’s very secure,” Realtor Brenda Dansby said.

“During Masters week, they make sure that everyone who comes in is supposed to be there. They make sure they are coming there for a reason and not just to see golfers.”

In addition to the community’s security staff and Tiger’s own bodyguards, he has hired two sheriff’s deputies to provide additional protection from autograph seekers and jilted ex-mistresses, a source said.
