Uniqlo sets sights on 666 Fifth Ave.

Japanese fashion retailer Uniqlo will open a blockbuster store in Midtown, filling a substantial street-level space on Fifth Avenue.

It is taking 100,000 square feet on the north end of 666 Fifth Ave., which was vacated by Brooks Brothers.

Sources told The Post that Uniqlo will move into just over 6,000 square feet on the ground floor, about 16,000 on the second floor and the entire 77,806-square-foot third floor, which had previously been used for office space.

The 15-year deal gives Uniqlo its second city location since it opened in a 51,000-square-foot space on Broadway in SoHo in 2006.

The retail at the base of the white office tower is owned by the Kushner Companies, the Carlyle Group and Stanley Chera’s Crown Acquisitions.

Neither their broker, C. Bradley Mendelson of Cushman & Wakefield, nor Uniqlo’s, Yair Staav of The Lansco Corp., returned calls for comment.

Retail sources said a deal with the British retailer TopShop fell apart at the beginning of this year. Nordstrom Rack and another British chain, All- Saints, were also among those who had considered the space.

According to Crain’s New York Business, which first ran the news yesterday, the Uniqlo space had an asking rent of about $30 million a year.
