Hey, just ask my mistress!

Tiger Woods picked the worst character witness to try to prove to his wife that he wasn’t cheating — actually putting his favorite mistress on the phone with her to convince her the claims were bogus, a bombshell report claimed yesterday.

The superstar golfer thought he could get off the hook by arranging the bizarre, half-hour phone chat between Elin Nordegren and New York City party girl Rachel Uchitel on Thanksgiving eve, the Web site Daily Beast reported.

During the call, Uchitel denied an upcoming National Enquirer story that said she and Woods were lovers, sources close to Nordegren told the site.

But the lie unraveled hours later, when a still-suspicious Nordegren allegedly found a text to Uchitel on her hubby’s phone that read: “You are the only one I’ve ever loved.”

Nordegren went ballistic — setting off a chain of events that culminated in his fateful SUV crash outside his mansion in Windermere, Fla.

After her husband popped an Ambien to sleep, the furious wife, posing as Woods, sent Uchitel a text from the phone, said sources close to Nordegren.

“I miss you,” the text read. “When are we seeing each other again?”

Uchitel texted back that she was surprised Woods was still awake and indicated that the pair had chatted previously that night, the sources said.

Nordegren then called Uchitel, who picked up the phone believing it was Woods.

“I knew it was you,” Nordegren said.

“Oh f- – -,” Uchitel replied, quickly hanging up.

Nordegren woke Woods in a fury, screaming at him as he was still bleary from sleep, the sources said.

After he locked himself in a bathroom, Nordegren again grabbed his phone and saw that he had, after waking, texted Uchitel, telling her that his wife now knew of their affair, that he was going to pack his bags and that he could be getting divorced soon.

When Woods emerged from the bathroom, Nordegren swung her fists at him and hoisted a golf club to chase him from the house.

A barefoot Woods hopped into his SUV and sped off, but he didn’t get far — hitting a fire hydrant and then a tree not far from his driveway.

An ambulance crew found him lying in the street, with the SUV’s windows knocked out.

After Woods was released from a hospital that day, he was taken to a secret location because his wife was still enraged, The Daily Beast reported.

The whole debacle occurred as the National Enquirer was set to break its story around Thanksgiving that Woods had been cheating with Uchitel.

Woods had tried to dodge the bullet by warning his wife about the report and telling her that he merely had met Uchitel at one or two social outings. That’s when he got Uchitel on the phone with her.
