Police investigate death of student at NY college

Police are investigating the killing of a female student whose body was discovered in faculty housing on the Manhattanville College campus in suburban New York.

Harrison Police Capt. Anthony Marraccini says that students are safe and that it was an “isolated incident” that involves “family matters.”

He said officers responding to a 911 call from school security at about 12:15 p.m. Monday found the student’s body.

He declined to identify her and would not say why she might have been in faculty housing. The homicide remains under investigation. He said they would make an arrest “when the time comes.”

Manhattanville College is located in Purchase, about 27 miles northeast of Manhattan. The liberal arts school has about 3,000 undergraduate and graduate students.
