Home groan: Mets fall to Brewers again

For the Mets, home is where you hang your head.

After plowing through Philadelphia and Cincinnati with five victories in six games, the Mets on Friday made it consecutive uninspired defeats at Citi Field with a 4-2 loss to the Brewers in front of an announced crowd of 25,276.

With two games remaining, the Mets are 32-47 at home, but finished 41-40 on the road.

“This is a tough park to hit in,” manager Terry Collins said. “You’ve got to be able to hit the baseball. You’ve got to be a pretty good offensive player to play in this park and put up decent numbers. “Sitting there tonight, you look up and we’ve got eight hits, outhit them, but a good poker hand — six singles and two doubles — gets beat by three homers any time.”

Norichika Aoki and Khris Davis each homered against Carlos Torres (4-6) as part of a three-run first inning for the Brewers. Martin Maldonado hit a solo homer against Scott Atchison in the seventh for the final run.

Justin Turner’s RBI single in the sixth pulled the Mets within 3-2, but the inning ended with Daniel Murphy tagged out at the plate attempting to score on a pitch in the dirt from Yovani Gallardo (12-10).
