Vendor was roughed up by TV show’s racist security: suit

An African street merchant in Midtown says he learned firsthand how rough show business can be when racial-slur-spewing security guards for an on-location set of NBC’s musical drama “Smash” roughed him up, a lawsuit alleges.

Licensed vendor Modou Niang says the since-canceled TV show was filming on Sixth Avenue between 45th and 46th streets on Feb. 15, 2013, where he hawks souvenirs and photos.

Niang claims apparent security guards, some wearing badges, confronted and “hurled racial slurs at him, calling him ‘n—-r’ and ‘motherf–ker’,” according to his Manhattan Supreme Court papers.

Niang says his merchandise was snatched and his wrist broken in the scuffle.

Reps for NBC did not immediately return calls for comment.
