SI massacre clues up in smoke

Cops had hoped that the diary of the monster mom who killed her four kids and herself in a Staten Island fire last week would yield clues about the heinous deed — but sources yesterday said her writings were too badly damaged to glean anything.

Investigators had found a charred note with the words “am sorry” on it at Leisa Jones’ home, which she set ablaze after slitting the throats of three of her kids. She and her youngest, 2-year-old son Jermaine, suffocated from the smoke.

The writing was matched to that found in the remnants of Jones’ diary, prompting probers to switch their focus from her 14-year-old son, C.J., to her as the murderer.

But the diary was too scorched and a computer too damaged to offer clues, sources said.
