Islanders re-sign Moulson

The Islanders announced yesterday that they have agreed to terms on a one-year contract worth $2.45 million with left wing Matt Moulson.

Moulson, 26, led the Islanders last season with a career-high 30 goals and finished fourth on the team with 48 points, playing all 82 games in his first full NHL season.

“Matt is one of our young core of players and we’re excited to have him return this upcoming season,” Islanders general manager Garth Snow said. “He was an integral part of our lineup last season.”

Moulson earned $575,000 last season, and was moments away from meeting with the Islanders in an arbitration hearing as a restricted free agent yesterday morning when the deal was reached. By signing a one-year deal, Moulson is eligible to become an unrestricted free agent next summer.
