Randy next? ‘Nothing decided’

Watch out, Dawg! Randy Jackson’s head could be next on the “American Idol” chopping block.

Fox executives yesterday refused to say that Jackson, the last remaining original member of the judging panel, will return for Season 10.

“The only thing that’s for sure is Ryan [Seacrest],” Jackson told the E! channel’s Web site late yesterday. “Nothing has been decided.”

Since the announced departure of Ellen DeGeneres last week and the reported firing of Kara DioGuardi, TV’s biggest show has come unglued, fueling speculation that an extreme makeover was underway.

“I can tell you that much of what has been written is accurate and some of the information is wildly inaccurate,” Peter Rice, the head of entertainment for Fox TV, said during a meeting with reporters in LA yesterday.

In the past seven days, published reports have put Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler — even Justin Timberlake and Elton John — in the coveted judges’ seats.

“We start the auditions with the judges in mid-September,” Rice said. “We certainly plan to have a judges panel in place and signed by then. As soon as we have that, we will announce it.”

The unraveling of “Idol,” it appears, began earlier this summer, as the network started searching for a replacement for Simon Cowell.

“In early June, I met with Ellen and we talked about the season and her feelings about the season and the idea that she wasn’t comfortable,” Rice recalled

“She didn’t feel like it was a good fit for her. I tried to persuade her that it would be different in the future, but ultimately we came to an agreement that we would begin to look for new judges,” he said.
