A source told Hoopsworld that Carmelo Anthony is “leaning toward testing free agency next offseason.” This disputes a Denver Post report that Anthony was close to signing a three-year, $65 million extension with the Nuggets.
But the possibility of a potential lockout does not worry Anthony and “he wants to explore his options next summer.”
Amar’e Stoudemire has talked about the possibility of Anthony and either Chris Paul or Tony Parker joining him with the Knicks. The news came on the same day the Nuggets let go of GM Mark Warkentien.
Warkentien, who had a preliminary interview with the Knicks last summer, is a potential candidate to be the Knicks’ next GM if Donnie Walsh decides to hire one.
