ObamaCare site down again – 3 days before key deadline

The Obamacare Web Site went down again Friday morning – three days before a key enrollment deadline.

The agency responsible for the HealthCare.gov site said it was taken down at 10 a.m. to repair an error that occurred overnight.

People trying to log on saw an error message that read: “The system is down at the moment. We’re currently performing scheduled maintenance. Please try again later.”

The problem-plagued site had performed better in recent weeks. But early Friday, during routine maintenance, the new problem occurred, apparently due to human error .

“Something was loaded incorrectly,” a person familiar with the matter told the Wall Street Journal. “It was not a software or hardware issue.”

The repair work was expected to take a few hours but it comes as the system was expected to handle a rush of last-minute applications. Monday is a deadline for purchasing coverage that goes into effect on Jan. 1.

The site should be “up and running again soon,” Aaron Albright, a spokesman for the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which runs the site, said in an emailed statement.
