And the Oscar goes to . . . PS 22!

Members of a Staten Island fifth-grade chorus that has earned widespread acclaim for its heartfelt renditions of popular hits are getting the reward of a lifetime — they’ll be singing at the Oscars this winter.

The kids of the PS 22 Chorus got the stunning news Thursday night from actress and award-show co-host Anne Hathaway, who made a surprise appearance at the Graniteville school’s annual winter concert to tell them they were invited to Los Angeles for the gala event.

The frenzied celebration that ensued — with more than 60 kids pogo-jumping, screaming and crying with excitement — was captured on a video that lit up the Internet yesterday.

“I was ecstatic! Tears came to my eyes. I was just thinking, ‘I’m going to be in LA for the first time in my life!’ ” said Azaria Chamorro, a 10-year-old fifth-grader.

“I just can’t wait to be there — a real red carpet under our feet!” she added. “I’ve never seen a red carpet in real life, only in movies and stuff.”

Chorus leader Gregg Breinberg said a top producer of the Academy Awards had become a fan of the kids last year — after watching online videos of their covers of hits like “Eye of the Tiger” and Lady Gaga’s “Just Dance” — and decided he wanted them on the Feb. 27 show.

The chorus has performed for a host of luminaries in recent years — including President Obama, Lady Gaga and Beyoncé — but because its members change every year, this is the first high-profile gig for the new crop.

“I’ve been watching the PS 22 choir on YouTube for, I guess, about two years now,” Hathaway told them. “You guys have brought such joy to my heart.”

Much of the chorus’ success has been credited to Breinberg, 38, who has been working at the school for 11 years.

“No one would have ever expected this little, dinky elementary school chorus from Staten Island, New York, would conquer the world as such and get the Oscar’s attention,” he said.

“It’s going to be life-changing.”
