Ratings spike for ‘CBS This Morning’

They don’t get a lot of press or attention over at “CBS This Morning,” so let’s show ’em some love — since the show recently had its best week in nearly five years in total viewers and demos across-the-board.

For the week ending Nov. 22, the morning show (Charlie Rose, Gayle King, Norah O’Donnell) averaged 3.3 million viewers from 7 to 9 a.m. — up nearly 25 percent from the same week last year. It was also up significantly over year-ago numbers in adults 25-54 (13 percent), households (20 percent) and women 25-54 (22 percent).

Its CBS Sunday-morning stablemate, “Face the Nation,” meanwhile, finished first in viewers (3.9 million) and in adults 25-54 Nov. 24 — and posted its best November sweeps numbers since 1987 in total viewers (3.6 million). It also notched its best adults 25-54 November numbers since 2008. Bob Schieffer hosts.

More Sunday-morning news: ABC’s “This Week” (George Stephanopoulos) beat NBC’s “Meet the Press” in November, for the first time in 20 years, in the “money” news demo of adults 25-54 (by a slim 21,000 viewer margin — but still . . . ).

And over in late night, ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” had its best showing since last Jan. 7, the week it moved to its 11:35 p.m. timeslot (excluding the NBA finals weeks in June), for the week ending Nov. 22 — pulling in 2.9 million total viewers and hitting a season high in adults 18-49. It was also up a whopping 63 percent over last year in total viewers (when it aired at 12:05 a.m.).

Call it a Lowes theater run

Queensborn “Scandal” co-star Katie Lowes, who plays Quinn Perkins on the much-buzzed-about ABC drama, is also a founding member of the LA-based IAMA Theatre Company—which is staging two original productions in Manhattan starting Thursday night. “Do Like the Kids Do” and “Shiner,” both produced by Lowes, will be staged at Theater Row (410 West 42nd) through Sunday, Dec. 15. Lowes and several other actors founded IAMA in 2007 to create new theater productions inLA.

Last, but not least . . .

Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, who are staging NBC’s live “Sound of Music” telecast Thursday night as well as producing this year’s Oscars, have inked a deal (with NBC) for an eight-part miniseries about Eliot Ness,” according to deadline.com . . . Congrats to Chad Blankenship (VP/consumer marketing), Jose Antonio Hernandez (VP/trade marketing) and Clarissa Colmenero (executive director/public relations and communications) who’ve been added to El Rey Network’s team.
