NYPD partners with Abu Dhabi cops to fight terrorism

The NYPD’s top cop will be in Abu Dhabi Thursday to launch a training and information exchange between New York City cops and their counterparts in the United Arab Emirates’ capital.

Ray Kelly will sign an agreement with the city to share information about critical infrastructure protection and best practices for policing, sources said.

The Persian Gulf city, which has a population of 921,000, is one of 11 international hubs where the NYPD has liaisons.

Through its Intelligence division, the department works with cops in Tel Aviv, Amman, Jordan, Toronto, Montreal, Paris and Lyon, Madrid, London, Singapore and Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic. NYPD detectives in the division routinely share and analyze information with their overseas counterparts to review and prevent terror attacks.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has also been in Abu Dhabi this week for talks on Syria and Iran.
