Motorcyclist jumps off Throgs Neck bridge in suicide attempt: authorities

A motorcyclist jumped off the Throgs Neck bridge in a suicide attempt this morning, authorities said.

The man, 53, from Manhasset, got off his bike about 8:50 a.m. on the southbound side of the bridge, near the Queens anchorage, and leaped into the water, cops said.

An MTA source said he jumped very quickly after stopping the motorcycle.

NYPD Harbor Patrol pulled him out of the water about twenty minutes later, and he was taken to New York Hospital Queens in very critical condition, cops added.

He is not expected to survive.

No criminality is suspected.
