NYPD dry run for bio-terror

Transit officials and the NYPD will release harmless gases into the subway this summer to test how the air would flow during a biological or chemical attack, officials said yesterday.

“We want to be able to determine how toxic material can flow through . . . the transit system. That’s one of the concerns we’ve had for a while, and also how it flows on the streets of our city,” said Police Commissioner Ray Kelly.

The research will be conducted during daylight hours during three nonconsecutive days in all five boroughs.
