Mark Burnett shopping ‘A.D.’ to follow ‘The Bible’

Mark Burnett is quietly trying to find a home for his television follow-up to “The Bible.”

The History channel, which averaged a record-setting 13 million viewers for the original mini-series in March, has not yet decided if it will air the sequel, sources say.

“It is not a continuation of ‘The Bible,’ ” Burnett confirmed exclusively to The Post.

“That’s done. It’s something else that is very related to the Bible.”

The new series is being shopped with the working title “A.D.,” though it is possible that could change.

Burnett, who produced the original series with wife Roma Downey, first hinted at a spinoff earlier this week.

“I have scripts in my bag [that] I just received today for what’s next,” he told reporters earlier this week.

“It’s going to be a bunch of episodes in the same world because we feel there’s a void and we’re filling that void,” he said.

Burnett seems confident the project will find a home quickly.

Earlier this week, he announced plans to condense the original 10 episodes into a three-hour feature movie to be released this fall.

Burnett says hopes to eventually screen the series or film for the pope.

“Roma and I would love to go to the Vatican at some point,” he says.
