Brooklyn teacher admits having sex with 15-year-old student

A novice Brooklyn high school teacher was arrested this morning after she admitted to having sex with a student at her school last year — when the boy was just 15, authorities said.

Evelyn Rogers, 33, who works at the HS for Innovation in Advertising and Media in Canarsie, was busted outside her Queens home on the charge of rape in the third degree.

Special Commissioner of Investigations Richard Condon said his office was tipped off last week and that Rogers was immediately pulled from the classroom.

“We went out and we interviewed the teacher and we interviewed the student. Both told us that they had been having sexual intercourse going back to August of last year,” said Condon. “We conferred with the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office and they told us to arrest her.”

Rogers and the student, who is now 16, admitted to having sex multiple times somewhere off campus in Brooklyn.

Condon declined to identify the location.

State records show that Rogers was certified to teach only last February.

Department of Education officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The high school was opened in 2008 with support from Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz.
