Jeter passes Cal Ripken on all-time hits list

Derek Jeter moved past Cal Ripken Jr. into 13th place on the all-time hits list with a leadoff double against the White Sox tonight in The Bronx.

Jeter now has 3,185 hits in his career. Nap Lajoie, who finished with 3,252 hits, is 12th on the list.

Shortly after the hit, Ripken released a statement:

“Congratulations to Derek on passing me on the all-time hits list. Derek has been such a special player for such a long time and I am happy to see him continue to play at a high level. He represents the game and the Yankees wonderfully and I hope that he continues to play and continues to give all of us baseball fans great memories.”
