Knicks sign veteran PG Prigioni

Jeremy Lin has another veteran point-guard mentor — Spanish-style.

The 35-year-old Spanish League veteran Pablo Prigioni has signed with the Knicks for a one-year, $473,000 minimum contract, his agent George Bass told The Post.

Prigioni, who visited the Knicks three weeks ago, is being brought in as Lin insurance and also to help mentor him in addition to newly-acquired Jason Kidd.

“I’ve been talking to [Knicks general manager Glen] Grunwald about four, five years about him,’’ Bass said. “This is the year it got done. He’s been very persistent checking in about Pablo. He’s a very big fan. He’ll bring leadership and will be there to help Jeremy a little bit.’’

Prigioni will face Team USA in the London Olympics, playing for Argentina. He’s been in the Spanish League since 1999-2000.

“He looks to pass before he shoots,’’ Bass said. “He’s similar to Jason Kidd, more like a true point guard. He’s excited to be with the Knicks and in New York. He’s excited about everything.’’

Scouts also say his speciality is the pick-and-roll and may work well with Amar’e Stoudemire. He is more a slowdown PG — a better fit for Mike Woodson than Mike D’Antoni’s speedball.

Bass said Prigioni accepted less money to play in the NBA and is believed to be the oldest rookie in NBA history. The Knicks offered him a two-year deal but Prigioni passed because he feels he can lift his market value after being seen for a season.

The deal won’t become official until FIBA clearance is given and that could take at least two days. Knicks European scout Kevin Wilson lives in Barcelona and has seen several of Prigioni’s games.

“I’m pretty sure he’s better than a lot of young point guards in the NBA you get,’’ Walter Szczerbiak, the former U.S. ambassador to the Spanish League, told The Post last month of Prigioni. “He has great experience in tough situations and he’s a good leader.’’
