Ruff, ready & out of rehab

They’ve got their diplomas — now they just need a comfy place to live.

Four adorable dachshunds — once facing euthanasia because they were considered too dangerous for adoption — are the class of 2013, the first graduates of doggy rehab, the ASPCA’s pioneering research program for behavior modification.

After three months of learning to overcome the fear of strangers, these wiener dogs are up for adoption today at the St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center in Madison, NJ.

“I am really so proud of them,” said animal behaviorist Kristen Collins, who ran the program. “They’ve exceeded our expectations. They are pets now and ready to go to a home.”

The dogs were rescued from a hoarders home. Collins said Pepper and Chrysanthemum wanted to attack if petted, Caramel hid and Lily growled when anyone approached.
