Clinton tweets Kidd his kudos

Jason Kidd has received a slew of congratulatory messages following his retirement announcement, but received his first from a former U.S. president Wednesday.

Via twitter, Bill Clinton hailed the ex-Knicks/Nets point guard and Grant Hill, the two 40-year-olds who retired within days of each other after sharing the Rookie of the Year Award in 1995.

Clinton wrote: “@RealJasonKidd, @realgranthill33, Congratulations on incredible careers. Let me know if you need any retirement advice.’’

Tuesday on Dallas radio, Kidd said he also received a congratulatory “note’’ from Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, who was steamed Kidd bolted from the Mavericks to sign with the Knicks and threatened to never retire Kidd’s Mavs jersey number.

“I definitely will reach out to Cuban in the near future for advice going forward,” Kidd said on Dallas radio. “Now that I’ll be on the business side of things and he’s had a lot of success with that, that would be a guy to go to.”
