The bizarre Manti Te’o “fake girlfriend” story gave Katie Couric’s daytime talk show its best-ever numbers.
Couric’s interview with Te’o on Thursday’s “Katie” — his first on-camera sitdown since the scandal broke — averaged around 3.5 million viewers, according to early estimates.
If those numbers hold, Thursday’s show would be its most-watched episode since “Katie” — which airs 3 p.m. on Ch. 7 — premiered last September.
The show’s previous high was around 3 million viewers who tuned in two weeks before for a show titled “Medical Mysteries.”
