New ‘lost $$’ slap at UFT

Mayor Bloomberg warned yesterday that the city stands to lose more than $500 million next year because of the failure to reach a deal with the teachers union on new teacher evaluations.

The deadlock between the city and the United Federation of Teachers has already cost the city $250 million in state aid after the two sides blew last week’s deadline to submit an evaluation plan to Albany.

But Bloomberg said another $250 million in state aid and $285 million in federal funding is threatened in 2014 if the impasse continues.
