‘EX’-FILES: MYSTERY’S OVER

THE truth is finally out there – or is it?

The final show of the final season of Fox’s popular cult TV hit “The X-Files” had sci-fi fans on the edge of their seats last night for a roller-coaster episode that ended nine years of alien-chasing on – gasp – a religious note.

Once again, brainy sexpot Gillian Anderson (Agent Dana Scully) teamed up with smoldering genius David Duchovny (Agent Fox Mulder, back for a special guest appearance) to tackle the biggest threat to face mankind in history.

Conspiracy? The show, packed with flashbacks, was the pure definition of the word, as the couple’s final voyage took them from Mulder’s murder trial to remote Pueblo ruins in Roswell, N.M.

Scully and Mulder left a few other things on the table too, most notably, Mulder’s apparent new-found religion.

In a bizarre twist, the last scene left the once vehement anti-believer gently caressing the cross on Scully’s neck – and “X-Files” fans scratching their heads.
