Newman from ‘Seinfeld’ is not dead, rumors were a hoax

Reports of Newman’s demise were greatly exaggerated on Sunday!

Beloved “Seinfeld” actor Wayne Knight appeared to be alive and well, contradicting rumors of his death in a traffic accident near the Pennsylvania-New York state border.

“Some of you will be glad to hear this; others strangely disappointed, but….I am alive and well!” Knight wrote on his verified Twitter feed Sunday afternoon.

The Wayne Knight-is-dead rumor was hatched in what appears to be a phony — but very detailed report, falsely attributed to US Weekly.

The faux story was posted on www.usmagazine.us, as opposed to the magazine’s real Web site www.usmagazine.com.

The elaborate hoax had details of the imaginary crash that includes location, names of drivers, hospitals and police agencies.

“Does someone have to DIE to trend? Geez!” Knight tweeted. “Thanks for all the love everybody. I didn’t know you cared. Glad to be breathing!”

Reps for Us Weekly could not immediately reached for comment.
