Officials in Portland, Maine, have cracked down on The Whistler.

The Whistler is the nickname of Robert Smith, who is either a free spirit or the most annoying man in town, depending on whom you ask, because he walks the streets whistling loudly.

His habit got him arrested for whistling in one place, but he was set free after agreeing to whistle only while walking.

A San Diego lawyer thought he was going to the county jail to visit a client — but he wound up becoming a prisoner.

Attorney Erubey Lopez was placed in a room where he expected to talk with an inmate. But guards never brought the prisoner and instead kept Lopez locked up for hours.

An intercom in the room was broken, and he was let out only after a guard heard his screams.

This guy isn’t exactly a master of disguise.

A naked, tattooed ex-con walked into a Davenport, Iowa, lingerie store and stole clothes. He then put on a small dress and blond wig and tried to escape.

Cops were able to nab him because they recognized his tattoos from a surveillance video.

The good news is that endangered bald eagles are back. The bad news is that they are becoming roadkill.

The birds have become so plentiful in Maine that they are colliding with cars as they swoop down to catch prey along roadsides.

The eagle/car collisions have prompted Maine officials to put up bald-eagle warning signs, similar to deer-crossing signs.

A Florida man’s sense of romance could get him five years behind bars.

Anthony Brasfield tried to show his love for his girlfriend by releasing a dozen Mylar balloons with romantic messages on them.

A state trooper saw the act and arrested Brasfield on a felony charge under the state’s Pollution Control Act.
