BLACKWATER

I completely agree with your harsh criticism of the Blackwater firm’s behavior – if it really is validated that it acted in an unprovoked, unjustified and overreactive manner (“The Blackwater Menace,” Editorial, Sept. 26).

I have not seen the proof and would rather give it the benefit of the doubt. Do we know for sure that it was not a provocation? It is much easier to judge from a warm and safe distance.

I feel really bad for the U.S. soldier convicted of shooting a civilian in a tough-to-judge situation, but apparently the court decided that it would rather punish the guy than show leniency to the overstressed troops.

Would The Post be writing about the massacre of Blackwater employees had they been the ones killed and if the car they claim didn’t stop quickly enough turned out to be laden with bombs? Probably not.

Sorry, but we are in a war, and sometimes innocent people die.

Maybe so many of our troops wouldn’t be killed if their hands weren’t tied behind their backs with the rules of engagement.

If the Iraqi government has a problem with Blackwater, maybe it should tell it to leave. Iraqi security forces could then provide security for our diplomats. How much do you want to bet that our diplomats wouldn’t like that?
