Heap$ for hunks so un‘fair’

It literally pays to look like George Clooney.

Handsome men command 22 percent more in wages than their average-looking counterparts, according to Australian researchers.

The study also found that below-average-looking men are paid 26 percent less than plain-looking colleagues.

The researchers — Andrew Leigh, formerly of the Australian National University, and Jeff Borland, of the University of Melbourne — said their study shows a blatant double standard: good-looking men getting praise while the intellect of attractive women is called into question.

Leigh, who is now a member of Parliament, said the good-look double standard applies in politics, too.

“Good looks helped male candidates more than they helped women,” he told the Sydney Morning Herald.

“It could be that attractive women come up against the stereotype that they can’t be both attractive and intelligent. There’s no such thing as the ‘dumb-blond syndrome’ for men.”
