Funny or Die expands

WILL Ferrell’s Funny or Die is about to leave its own Web site for a comedy tour at HBO and YouTube.

The 2-year-old site will get a new YouTube channel next month.

The site, which features short comedy clips and has attracted some big names like collaborators Judd Apatow and Sarah Silverman, has resisted putting its videos on YouTube, fearing it would decrease its traffic.

Now it’s reversed its belief that a stand-alone site is best.

“It will definitely get more viewership of our videos and, to us, that’s the important thing — we want the work that’s created to be seen by as many people as possible,” said Dick Glover, CEO of Funny or Die.

Funny or Die is also preparing a series of 12 half-hour shows for HBO titled “Funny or Die Presents.”

The series, which will consist of sketches like those found on the Web site, is headed by “Saturday Night Live” alum Andrew Steele and began filming a few months ago.
