Cops nab 2 for ‘mistreating’ dogs in Manhattan, Brooklyn

Two men were arrested for animal cruelty in separate incidents in Brooklyn and Manhattan, authorities said.

Marvin Silver, 24, of Brooklyn was busted on Feb. 27 after a 10 month investigation for starving his pitbull name Biggie, said Bret Hopman, a spokesman for the ASPCA.

A day earlier, the ASPCA’s Humane Law Enforcement Agents picked up 60-year-old Peter Morin in Harlem for neglecting his shih tzu Tinkerbell.

Animal Care and Control in Brooklyn launched an investigation into Silver last April after Biggie was put in their care weighing a shocking 45.2 pounds.

After two months of treatment, the emaciated pit bull gained 57% of his weight back and clocked in at a healthy 71 pounds.

Now a healthy and happy pup, Biggie was adopted by a Staten Island family on Feb. 7.

Last December, a groomer notified authorities that Tinkerbell was being neglected after Morin dropped off the diseased dog.

The 11-year-old lap dog was blind, suffering from kidney disease and had badly matted fur, Hopman said.

“Tinkerbell is still recovering from her ailments,” Hopman said. He added that she’s regained some of her vision and when all better will be put up for adoption.

Silver and Morin each face one count of animal cruelty, a misdemeanor that has them facing up to a year behind bars and a $1,000 fine.
