Louisville’s Ware dunking, 6 months after gruesome injury

When Louisville guard Kevin Ware was felled with a compound leg fracture in the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament in March – as gruesome a sports injury as you ever will see – he inspired his teammates by telling them two things.

He urged them to regroup and win the national championship, and he vowed to make a full recovery and return to the court.

Well, Rick Pitino’s Cardinals fulfilled the title part of that message – Ware even helped cut down the nets, after he was helped up on the ladder with his leg in a cast – and now comes evidence the junior is making progress in his comeback.

Teammate Chris Jones shared video of Ware rising up and dunking in a recent workout. Ware, who was born in The Bronx, smiles into the camera and says, “I’m back.”
