MIDSUMMER REPORT CARD: METS

Despite the highest payroll in the National League ($143 million) and more All-Stars (four) than any team in the Senior Circuit, the Mets entered the break in fourth place in the East, 6½ games behind the Phillies.

The massive amount of injuries that decimated the roster should get most of the blame and were factored in heavily when we graded the Mets’ 42-45 start.

Overall, the team gets a C-minus.
