‘VMA’ bump

MTV’s 2009 “Video Music Awards” were watched by 11 million people, making it the most-watched “VMAs” in seven years — an increase of 21 percent over the viewers who tuned in last year.

Those watching the two-and-a-half hour broadcast — which aired Sunday night on MTV, MTV2 and VH1 — hosted by British comic Russell Brand, were treated to a show rife with Michael Jackson-tributes and it’s own bit of controversy, stemming from Kanye West’s interruption of Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech.
