Mayor mike’s welcome matt

He had no part in yesterday’s Democratic mayoral primary, but Mayor Bloomberg still managed to grab the media spotlight by teaming up with superstar Matt Damon to film a scene outside City Hall for a new sci-fi thriller.

Movie fans eagerly awaiting Bloomberg’s appearance on the big screen should be prepared to see the mayor in a typecast role — himself.

In the scene filmed yesterday, Bloomberg holds a press conference with Damon, a congressman running for the US Senate with the mayor’s support.

“The Adjustment Bureau” has Damon involved with a ballerina as mysterious forces conspire to keep them apart.

Several starry-eyed City Hall staffers learned of the filming — which wasn’t on the mayor’s public schedule — and at least one managed to chat with Damon and get his autograph.

After living in Florida for four years, Damon said he and his family moved back to New York a week ago, too late to change his voter registration.

While Bloomberg was getting ready for his close-up, Bill Thompson, his Democratic rival, was engaged in the much less glamorous chore of seeking last-minute votes in Co-Op City.

Mayoral aides insisted the timing was coincidental and wasn’t designed to overshadow Thompson.
