Beyoncé’s surprise album download frenzy

Beyoncé fans rushed to get their copies of the pop diva’s surprise new “visual album,” giving it 80,000 downloads in its first three hours on the market Friday.

Titled “BEYONCÉ” and consisting of 17 videos and 14 tracks, the record was released with zero warning but was still the best-selling album on iTunes Friday.

“This is why she will always BEY the hottest chick in the entire game. PERIOD,” tweeted singer LaTavia Roberson.

Travis Wall, a former contestant on “So You Think You Can Dance,” tweeted, “BEYONCÉ!!!!!!!! Every single thing you did was perfect!!!!!! YOU ARE THE QUEEN!”‏

Beyoncé says the album fuses visual and audio experiences.

“I see music. It’s more than just what I hear,” said the singer, 32.

“When I’m connected to something, I immediately see a visual or a series of images that are tied to a feeling or an emotion, a memory from my childhood, thoughts about life, my dreams or my fantasies. And they’re all connected to the music.”

The videos feature hubby Jay Z, their baby, Blue Ivy, and her former Destiny’s Child bandmates. Tracks feature Frank Ocean, Pharrell Williams, Justin Timberlake and Drake.

The album, meanwhile, garnered 1.2 million “mentions” on Twitter in less than a day.

A source told Billboard magazine that it sold 80,000 copies on iTunes in three hours, roughly half what Garth Brooks’ new album did in its first week.
