LI lifesaving ‘cat’ch

This frightened feline — which somehow got trapped in a deep storm drain — was rescued yesterday by Long Island firefighters.

The drama began at about 1 p.m. when a woman called the volunteer Baldwin Fire Department and said she “heard the cat crying for help,” said Deputy Chief Christopher Schwenker, 33.

One of the members went home and got a large fishing net. By then, the pitiful puss had stopped crying.

“It was happy we were helping it out, I guess,” Schwenker said. “Once we got it out, it took off like a shot.”
