Justice re-served: Stand on that, Stewart!

I definitely think Lynne Stewart’s sentence is too long — she should have received a death sentence or been executed immediately (“Crying Time for Lynne Stewart,” Editorial, July 19).

Stewart could have been offered the following: Give up your American citizenship and be deported to Iran or Saudi Arabia, where women are treated differently than in the United States. At least she would no longer be here.

Stewart passed messages for terrorist Omar Abdel-Rahman while he was in prison.

After originally sentencing Stewart to 28 months, when federal Judge John Koeltl could have sentenced her to 30 years, Stewart said she could do 28 months “standing on her head.”

The judge considered her gloating after the original sentence and she has now been resentenced to 10 years.

Three cheers for Koeltl.

I have two words for big-mouth Stewart: “head stand.”

Now she has 10 years to perfect it!
