Giants, Eagles to light up scoreboard

Including the 1997-2012 seasons in The Post, Cat’s record in print stands at 480-408 (54 percent) against the spread.

SUNDAY

Eagles / GIANTS Over 54: By now, most casual observers have noticed the totals paradigm has shifted in the NFL, since corners and safeties might as well wear handcuffs, given how this season’s contests are being officiated. Should these two desperadoes wind up playing constant turnover-exchange games between the 30s, we’ve got trouble. Otherwise, both sides plump up their offensive stats, secure in the knowledge that the final score will make one side happy. It’s a track meet (Eagles/GIANTS, Over 54) for one unit.

CARDINALS (+2) over Panthers: Arizona games are typically a sweat, but you’ve got the best of it going in when you field a defense which would surely figure to have a chance to keep Cam Newton in check, in terms of restricting rushing yardage. Cardinals (+2) find a way — again — for one unit.

LAST WEEK: 0-1-1. Heading into Saturday, there were +3¹/₂’s out there, and trust some of you got there (LSU, push). Geno Smith = turnovers. Deal with it (Jets, minus one unit).

SEASON: 5-3-2.
