Empire seller strikes out with drastically lower sale price

Developer Trevor Davis finally sold his full-floor, 6,042-square-foot condo at 188 E. 78th St., the Empire.

The closing price for the 26th-floor unit was a sobering $9.95 million — far less than the original $17.9 million asking price.

Davis, if our readers recall, had a messy divorce that stretched out over four years of litigation. Also, he had partnered with Aby Rosen on 425 Fifth and the Empire, then filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy while trying to sell off the skinny sliver of a glass building at 1055 Park Ave., which is now out of the black, with tenants including Simon Cowell’s baby mamma, Lauren Silverman, who has sidled into a $26,000-a-month unit.

The Empire condo that Davis owned comes with six bedrooms, 4½ bathrooms and great views, according to the listing. The buyer, sources tell us, is a precious gem dealer.
