September launch for new FXX cable net

Fx has added to its stable of sister cable networks.

FXX, which was announced yesterday, will be targeted to “young adult viewers” and will launch Sept. 2.

It joins FXM, a movie channel that targets adults 25-54, as part of the FX brand.

The new network, catering to adults 18-34, will add new episodes of “Legit,” “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” “The League” and “Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell” to its lineup.

All four shows previously aired on FX.

In addition, “Totally Biased,” a talk show hosted by comedian W. Kamau Bell, will move to a five-nights-a-week schedule on FXX.

The new network will be available in 74 million homes in its first year.

“This is a landmark day in the almost 20-year history of FX Networks,” FX president/GM John Landgraf said in a statement.

“As we add FXX to become a suite of three channels, FX will remain the foundation of the brand, which is why we chose to include it in the names of each of our three networks.

“With this expansion, FX, FXX and FXM will specifically target one of three major adult demos.”

FX also announced that it’s renewed its drama, “Justified,” for a fifth season, and has ordered 10 episodes of “Fargo,” which will premiere next spring.
