Kelly lapse in memory

NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly made a rare appearance on the witness stand yesterday at a discrimination trial involving his department.

In Brooklyn federal court, Kelly was asked about black ex-cop Howard Henderson, who claims he was unfairly targeted because of his race.Kelly signed off on putting Henderson back on the streets after he was cleared of associating with criminals.

Kelly said he could not recall much of the case.

“We receive about 30,000 pieces of communication every year in the commissioner’s office,” he said.
